The Chairman of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of Protestant Churches in Egypt, issued a decision to implement rapid and urgent interventions to distribute clothes and food in the Garbage area, as a result of the torrents that the region was exposed to, in addition to supporting small farmers in Minya and Beni Suef, with agricultural supplies for more than 250 acres to restore the natural state of these crops.
Services will continue to be provided to small farmers in the coming period under an initiative that was launched, titled (Protecting your production from climate change.) The initiative is to serve over twenty thousand small farmers in Upper Egypt's governorates, aiming for recovering small farmers from the repercussions of the flood that occurred, to empower them to resilience, and to safely plant next season's crops while protecting agricultural production from any expected climate changes.
Concerning facing the repercussions of the "Coronavirus" crisis, the authority works in partnership with hundreds of Community Development Associations to support local communities. Several community initiatives have been launched in this context, including the "We Can Protect It" initiative for the communities in Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia. Also, the "Safe Communities From the Coronavirus" initiative in the governorates of Sohag, Minya, and Beni Surf.
Within these initiatives' framework, sterilization campaigns will be carried out in the streets, institutions, mosques, and churches in hundreds of villages, country estates, and hamlets. The initiative will distribute kits of disinfectants and implement awareness campaigns through mobile cars to alleviate the impact of the affected citizens' suffering from these disasters and crises and help people face their basic needs.
President of Protestant Churches said: "In coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, local and governmental administrations, consultants and specialists, we will continue to implement these initiatives to make our societies more resilient, and have the capabilities that would enable them to manage and organize citizens, institutions and entities, to increase their readiness, whether in facing Coronavirus crisis or in mitigating its impact and its repercussions on citizens.
