Today, Saturday, the Evangelical Council and the Heads of Evangelical Denominations, chaired by Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of Protestant Churches in Egypt, met via electronic means of communication.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council appreciated the role played, measures and decisions that are taken by the President and the government to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Such effort reflects the priority of the Egyptian citizen, his health, and his safety.
The Council decided to continue to comply fully with the previous decisions regarding the suspension of all activities and the obligation to take precautionary measures until the reopening of the worship places.
Upon the government's expected decision regarding the possibility of reopening worship places in Egypt, Zaki said: "A committee has been formed to prepare churches' reopening plan. The plan should include all precautionary and preventive measures for confronting the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. The plan should be approved next council meeting and delivered to all churches, before the reopening decision."
At the end of the meeting, the President of Protestant Churches concluded: "We pray for the safety of the entire humanity, and may God grant the President and the government wisdom, and peace to the Egyptians and the entire world."
