Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Protestant Churches in Egypt, thanked The Prime Minister, Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, for the decision taken by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday to establish two endowments Committee for the evangelical and the Catholic Churches.
"We welcome this decision, which reflects the state's vision to promote equality and citizenship, and its constant eagerness to translate this trend into laws, legislation and serious steps on the ground," he said in remarks today.
At its meeting today, the Council of Ministers approved a bill on the establishment of the Catholic Church Endowments and the Evangelical Community, each with a legal personality, each of which is based in Cairo governorate, and sets the respective jurisdictions by decision of the President of the Republic. Article 2 of the bill stipulates that "each body shall administer a board of directors, the first of which is the Patriarch of the Catholic Church, A President and twelve members, half of whom are bishops and the other half experienced from the same denomination, and the second the President of Protestant Churches as President, and twelve Members, half of whom are clerics and the other half are experienced from the same sect.
