The Presidency of Protestant Churches is closely following what is going on, and the practical efforts exerted by the state - with all its systems and sectors - to combat the Corona epidemic and contain this crisis that threatens our dear country and the entire world.
Today, Thursday, 2nd of April, 2020, the Congregational Council, the Heads of the other Evangelical Denominations, and the President of Protestant Churches in Egypt, via electronic means of communication, have decided the following:
1- In solidarity with the state’s policy and the precautionary measures it takes, all meetings continue to be suspended with no exception. Also, all weddings, ceremonies, and funerals are restricted to the family members or the family of the deceased only; until conditions stabilize.
2- Since man's safety comes first, all celebrations of the glorious Easter are suspended this year; “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
3- In the sense of national responsibility, the Presidency of the Protestant Church, with its various denominations and bodies, continue to play a decisive role in facing the crisis.
4- The Presidency of Protestant Churches, with all its Denominations and local churches, invites all those who can help, providing all possible social and medical assistance to all groups of needy members of the society through these circumstances.
5- The Presidency of Protestant Churches appeals to the Egyptian people, for following all the caveats and instructions issued by the state.
6- We appeal to all our churches for calling the people to allocate all Fridays during April for fasting and prayer, so that the Lord may have mercy and lift the epidemic.
We pray that the Lord will grant us his salvation so that we pass through this crisis with all our brothers in humanity.
“For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.” (Psalm 91: 3)
