Today, Wednesday, Reverend Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Protestant Churches in Egypt and head of the Evangelical Endowments Authority, chaired the first meeting of the Evangelical Endowments Authority, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Protestant Churches in Cairo, in the presence of Rev. George Shaker, Vice President of the Protestant Churches, Rev. Nadi Labib. Head of Synod of the Nile, Rev. Refat Fathy General Secretary for Synod of the Nile, Reverend Stephanos Zaki, Secretary of the General Evangelical Council, Rev. Nasser Katkout, head of the General Council of the Assemblies of God in Egypt, Sheikh Samuel Baqi Sadaqa, Vice President of Synod of the Nile, Reverend Albert Lewis, Chairman of the Endowments Committee of Synod of the Nile, and Mr. Mumtaz Gerges, Vice President of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for social services CEOSS, Sheikh Farouk Al-Zabet, representative of the Bretheren Churches , Consultant Boutros Daniel, Head of the Administrative Prosecution in Assiut, and representative of the free Methodist Churches, Mr. Maged Adeeb, a former member of Parliament, and Mr. Youssef Talaat, legal consultant of the Presidency of the Protestant Churches in Egypt.
At the beginning of the meeting, in his speech, Zaki said: "I would like to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for his efforts and decisions that support the values of coexistence and the realization of the dream of a citizenship state on the ground."
The first meeting of the Evangelical Endowments Authority comes based on President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's decision to issue Law No. 190 of 2020 for establishing the Evangelical Endowments Commission in Egypt for four years. That came after the approval of the House of Representatives of the law, as well as Presidential Decision No. 81 of 2021, to form a board of directors for the Evangelical Endowment Authority headed by Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Protestant Churches in Egypt, and President of the General Evangelical Council.
According to law, an internal bylaw for the Authority is set to organize its work at its first meeting after forming it. Also, the Authority also elects a deputy and secretary for it besides forming permanent committees and sub-committees of the Authority to start its work.
The Evangelical Churches Endowment Authority in Egypt aims to manage all affairs of the endowments of the Presidency of the Protestant Churches.
